I can’t express how important this newsletter is to me or how much it makes me laugh. Actually I guess I just did. Off to deep dive into the Sontag/Paglia feud. If anyone wants to see another wild Paglia clip, definitely watch The Watermelon Woman (1996) queer black documentary/narrative comedy made by Cheryl Dunye. This is a great movie on its own but made amazing by the semi-unhinged interview with Paglia in the middle who seems to have no idea she is being made fun of (probably?) but the lack of clarity around all of it is thrilling. Anyway thank you Pat! And if you have any desire to share your thoughts on bachelor in paradise I’d appreciate it a lot.
i had a pop punk haircut once by accident (because it was 2007 and i told the hairdresser to make me look "like a rockstar" which i realize now is sort of vague as i had no visual guidelines for him to follow so he really just had to guess what i meant). it was terrible and looked somewhat like the middle photo you posted. the boys in my grade gave me a very, very bad nickname for it that no 12 year old should ever be called but now it's a funny story that makes me feel grateful and relieved for every not-bad haircut i get. anyway thank you pat for validating the real, lived truth that the week starts on monday not sunday like society would have us believe
thank you! the calendar industry needed the call out
I love it all + the housewives! + thank you for the Real World: Brooklyn awareness.
Your writing is such a treat ! You are such a talent, Pat.

Thank you for recognizing that all calendars are gaslighting us into thinking Sunday is the “first day of the week”

“I had pop punk hair and fuck if I didn’t make it as far as you can make it with a pop punk haircut.” This line will stick with me. A++
