I am feeling painted into a corner because I said I would write about my thoughts on the distance running events at the Olympics this week, but I don’t know that I have anything interesting to say. Also I feel like most of my readers don’t know very much about track at all, so so much of my word count will need to go to explaining what anything even is and why it matters to me.
Hey pat!!! I love your writing first of all, thanks for blessing us with this not newsletter. When you talk about track on the pod i sometimes get confused bc no background knowledge, but in writing i can follow way better and it's actually really exciting edge of ur seat drama. I wish you were a sports commentator. Love u xxx
hi pat just wanted u to know that i loved this newsletter it made me laugh out loud and also get chills. i do not care about sports until im reminded about sports and people being ridiculously good at something niche and then i get entirely too invested. going to go watch this race vid on youtube and probably cry <3
yayyyy track!!! they really are all icons in their own rite 🥲 I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Ajee. I wonder if she was injured or something this year and just didn’t talk about it in the media. Maybe she even had COVID and that threw her off! Would looove to see a race between Athing Mu and Caster Semenya. Non-cardboard Olympics in Eugene next year!!!
